About Us

The heart and brain of the #GRADEplanet movement is a group of scientists from McMaster University and its affiliates - people from different continents, across all corners of the planet, united by their faith in science and their mission to improve the world by caring for the quality of data - in science and medical decision-making in particular.

In the early days of the #GRADEplanet action, during the Global Evidence Summit in Cape Town in September 2017, a lot of attendees and friends from all around the world lent us tremendous support by signing the Homo Sapiens Manifesto as the symbol of rational thinking.

“Make our planet GRADE again” merges the ideas behind both a slogan used during Donald Trump's United States President presidential campaign, and a comment made by French President Emmanuel Macron on global warming – the former referred to a "great America", the latter to a "great planet". We call for a #GRADEplanet, considering that no reality can be "great" while we deny the achievements of humanity, knowledge, science, logic, kindness, human rights, and universal access to health care.
